HappeningNow is a reading layer over reporting published by other organizations. These pages describe what the platform does, what it deliberately does not do, and how to tell us when it gets something wrong.
What HappeningNow is — and is not
What HappeningNow is
- A platform that collects, organizes, and connects reporting published by other news organizations.
- A source-aware reading surface: every story identifies the publication that reported it and links back to the original report.
- A deterministic context layer that shows the shape of coverage — how many reports, from how many distinct domains, over what period.
- A publisher of its own product and methodology writing, which is labelled as such.
What HappeningNow is not
- An original news organization. HappeningNow does not have reporters, and does not gather the underlying facts of the stories it organizes.
- A verification service. HappeningNow does not independently verify the claims made in publisher reporting.
- A rating service. HappeningNow does not score publications for trustworthiness, bias, or factual accuracy.
- A replacement for the original report. The link to the publisher is the point of the page, not a footnote.
