Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance with aircraft, heavy equipment and firefighters. At 7:00 p.m. that day, Texas A&M Forest Service was released from the fire. On Monday, May 18th at 4:00 p.m., Texas A&M Forest Service was requested back to the fire due to a breach in containment. The fire is currently in joint command between Texas A&M Forest Service and Amarillo Fire Department. Local fire departments on scene of the fire include Idalou, Ralls, Motley County, Floydada, Hale Center, Happy, Hart, Abernathy, Canyon, Buffalo Springs, Roosevelt, Meadow, Denver City, Plainview, Kress, Tuila, Halfway, West Carlisle and New Deal.Update May 18, 6:30 p.m. - Firefighters are engaged in active structure protection. Heavy equipment is being used to construct line on the left and right flanks of the fire. The fire is still pushing to the northeast. Tankers are making beneficial water drops. Structure protection is being carried out.Update May 19, 11:00 a.m. - Firefighters are currently working on contingency containment lines south of the landfill. All containment line are currently holding. Aircraft is providing intelligence to fire managers on the ground.Update May 19, 2:00 p.m. - An infrared flight was flown over the fire at noon today to identify areas of heat. Firefighters are wrapping up the contingency containment line on the south side of the fire. Firefighters continue to put out hotspots around structures.REENTRY AND EVACUATION INFORMATION: (Updated May 19 2:45 p.m.) For up to date information, please visit the Amarillo Area Office of Emergency Management. - Temporary Entry Access Only (from 1061 and Ranch Rd. or 1061 and W. Ranch View Dr.) Beginning at 3:00 p.m., residents in the following areas may be allowed limited escorted access to check property conditions, retrieve personal belongings, or access damage before exiting the area again. This applies to both Bishop Estates and to Bishop Ranches from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Full reentry with controlled access (from 1-40 frontage and S. Dowell Rd.) Beginning at 6:00 p.m., residents in the following areas may be allowed to return to their homes while law enforcement maintains controlled access points to limit non-resident traffic: Two Deer Creek, Eagle Tree, Quail Canyon, Alta Vista Estates, Dripping Springs, Silver Pointe.
