NBA closing time: Amen Thompson erases Victor Wembanyama, Jayson Tatum daggers Knicks
Jayson Tatum has a lot on his plate this season. Playing without Jaylen Brown for the first time in his career, the Celtics need him to be their top scorer and facilitator against even more disproportionate defensive attention.
AI Summary
Jayson Tatum entered the Celtics’ season opener without Jaylen Brown, shouldering the role of primary scorer and facilitator amid heightened defensive focus. In the loss to the Cavaliers, he missed 10 of 11 second‑half attempts and finished with just six of 23 field goals overall. Despite the shooting struggles, Tatum recorded 11 assists, repeatedly drawing double teams and trying to generate offense for Boston. The performance highlighted the pressure on Tatum to lead the team in both scoring and playmaking as the season begins.
